Caden's Afghan

.
I finished Caden's baby afghan on Sunday night. Caden is Renee's baby boy who was born right before President's Day. Excellent timing on his part. He will always have a 3-day weekend to celebrate his birthday. The afghan is knit in Plymouth Encore Color #1033 and Colorspun #7129. I didn't want a baby-ish pale blue or green, but hopefully this isn't too dark for a newborn. The afghan was easy and fast to knit using double strands on large needles. If you want the pattern, I would love to share it with you. Just ask.

Sweater in a Tub

.
So I went back to the tub to take this picture of Give The People What They Want from Yarn Girls Guide. This actually wasn't the original sweater in a tub [that was Marilyn, already posted] but this one is OK too. Don't know why I put the plant there. The sweater is knit in Filatura di Crosa Clara in color #24. The scarf is done in garter stitch using Trendsetter Flora.

This cardigan has shrunk quite a bit. Before I washed it, it hung down almost to my knees and the sleeve cuffs were covering my hands. Put it in the wash and voy-la, it's the right size. I showed it to my brother's girlfriend and she promptly started on her own. Kinda kewl.

Your Basic Bag

.
What self-respecting girl doesn't have a zillion purses and bags? Although I've knit mostly sweaters, I am always on the lookout for the perfect knitted bag. This one is from Sally Melville's The Knit Stitch. It has a lot of significance for me because I knit it during a very stressful time in my life. I had just torn my left ACL in a skiing accident and was limping around with a brace and crutches. Then a week after that, my boyfriend was in an accident while he was snowmobiling. I flew across the country to be with him in the hospital for 3 weeks. This was all I had to work on, bedside, while he recuperated. We're all better now and the purse turned out perfect.
